Bach to Rock Strikes a Chord in Washington State with New Franchised Locations
July 23, 2026 // FranchisePR.com // Washington — Bach to Rock is growing its footprint in Washington State through two major expansion milestones. A new franchise agreement with Paula and Chris May to develop one location and the announcement of a West Seattle location from franchisee Joey Shevelson.
Paula and Chris May signed a new franchise agreement to bring Bach to Rock to communities north of Lake Washington, with territories under consideration including Kenmore, Bothell, Lake Forest Park, Brier and Shoreline. Chris brings an extensive musical background to the business, having played guitar for more than 20 years in bands and solo performances. He holds a degree in Audio Engineering and is nearing completion of a degree in Guitar Performance, with experience both taking and teaching music lessons. Paula is a healthcare provider and researcher who began playing piano at a young age and brings a knowledge of teaching in university settings.
For the Mays, opening a Bach to Rock is an opportunity to combine a lifelong passion for music with a desire to strengthen access to arts education in their community.
“Music has always been a priority in our lives, and when we had kids, that priority naturally extended to them,” said Paula May. “We understand the foundational role music plays in development and wanted to create opportunities for other families to experience that. Bach to Rock stood out because of its ability to support students of all ages and skill levels while making music engaging, collaborative and fun.”
The couple first discovered Bach to Rock while researching music lesson opportunities for their own children and were drawn to the brand’s broad curriculum and inclusive approach.
“We wanted to be part of a company that teaches a wide range of instruments and gives students opportunities to grow together through bands, camps and collaborative experiences,” said Chris May. “The way Bach to Rock supports beginners through advanced musicians and gives families a place to continue their musical journey as interests and abilities evolve over time, is a game changer.”
“We’re excited to continue building on the momentum we’ve seen in Washington and welcome passionate operators who share our belief in the power of music education,” said Brian Gross, President of Bach to Rock. “The addition of Paula and Chris, alongside Joey’s opening, reflects both the strength of our franchise model and the growing demand for engaging, community-centered music experiences. As we expand our presence across the state, our focus remains on creating spaces where students of all ages can develop skills, build confidence and connect through music.”
