Fitness Machine Technicians Opens in Phoenix’s West Valley, Local Owners Address Seasonal Needs for Fitness Equipment Maintenance Ahead of Summer
May 02, 2025, PHOENIX – Fitness Machine Technicians today announced the addition of Dionne and Nolan Spooner, Phoenix locals and a wife-and-husband franchisee duo, to the franchise system. Combining decades of experience in social work, athletic coaching, and entrepreneurship with a passion for fitness and helping others, the Spooners offer equipment diagnostic, repairs, routine maintenance, and more, serving Phoenix’s West Valley. Their location spans neighborhoods including Peoria, Glendale, Surprise, Goodyear, Buckeye, Tolleson, Sun City, Sun City West, and Sun City Grand.
“As former high school and college athletes with busy careers, we were looking for an entrepreneurial fit that we had a real belief in—one that would set us up successfully heading into retirement and give us something to pass down to our family,” said Dionne Spooner, co-owner of Fitness Machine Technicians of West Valley. “The Main Line Brands team welcomed us warmly from day one, and we were so happy to join a franchise focused on building camaraderie across the system and providing extensive training and business development support. It is so rewarding for us to go beyond just service – helping customers solve their equipment problems, consult on the best product fit, or simply move a piece of equipment. We’re thrilled to continue supporting our community through our family-operated business.”
Amid National Physical Fitness and Sports Month in May, the Spooners share tips for Greater Phoenix fitness fanatics and property managers on how to spot signs that workout equipment may need maintenance:
- Day-to-day cleaning is vital to the health of your equipment – make sure sweat is wiped away and dust is removed after each use, as this will significantly increase the life of your equipment.
- Regular, consistent inspection and rotation of equipment that is heavily used will help you identify minor issues before they become major issues.
- Use certified technicians to fix equipment, ensuring the issue is accurately diagnosed and solved, as DIY solutions can underdiagnose the severity of issues and cause more if incorrectly handled.
After more than 30 years in social work—with the past five years spent in Phoenix—Dionne and her husband Nolan, who bring a 30-plus-year career in teaching, athletic coaching, construction, and auto repair, decided they were ready to set up the ‘next step’ in their careers. They opened Fitness Machine Technicians of West Valley last October. The Spooners, combined with their son and daughter, make up their team of experts in fitness equipment repair and maintenance. What began as an entrepreneurial venture run out of their son’s bedroom has since grown into a dedicated business space, with the family adding an additional service vehicle just six months after opening.
“Fitness Machine Technicians is starting to become more of a household name in the repair and maintenance space, and our franchise owners and their dedication to service are the leading reasons for that” said Jason Pritchard, interim chief executive officer of Main Line Brands. “The Spooners’ passion for fitness, extensive knowledge of their service area, and mindset focused on helping others make them a natural fit within the Fitness Machine Technicians franchise family. We’ve already seen the impact they’re making in the Greater West Valley Phoenix community, and we’re thrilled to see them continue to grow as the busy summer season approaches.”
Fitness Machine Technicians of West Valley is available to serve both residential and commercial customers, including gyms, health clubs, or physical therapy centers. Services include equipment installation, assembly and disassembly, routine maintenance for high-functioning performance, and general repairs to extend equipment life and keep home gyms or facilities operating safely. Service contracts are available monthly, bimonthly, and quarterly, in addition to one-off service requests.
“Opening an intentional business was so important to us, and we’ve found that with Fitness Machine Technicians,” continued Spooner. “The neighborhoods we serve include many senior living communities, and though our service may not include repairs – it may just be moving a treadmill from one side of the room to another – giving back to our neighbors to encourage health and fitness is the reason we do it all.”
