Fractured Prune® Expands Franchise Development Efforts Across Coastal Markets
May 14, 2026 // FranchisePR.com // OCEAN CITY, MD. – Fractured Prune is launching a renewed franchise development initiative as the brand prepares for its next phase of growth in 2026.
Founded in 1976 in Ocean City, Maryland, Fractured Prune built a loyal following across coastal communities through its customizable, made-to-order donut experience and energetic in-shop atmosphere, becoming a must-visit destination in many core markets. The brand is led by owner and CEO Daniel Windon, who acquired the brand in late 2019.
“I’ve been part of Fractured Prune for more than 20 years and understood the long-term potential the brand had to evolve. There’s nothing else like Fractured Prune, where guests watch donuts dipped, glazed, and customized fresh to order,” said Windon, who first joined the system as a franchisee in 2005. “We’ve strengthened operations, modernized support systems, and firmly established a model designed for long-term growth. As we approach our 50th anniversary, we’re focused on partnering with franchisees who want to bring the Fractured Prune experience to more communities across the country with hands-on operations.”
In recent years, Windon, who operates five of his own locations in the Ocean City market, has sustained the brand’s licensing program. Windon has pursued efforts to infuse more operational and marketing consistency across locations.
Early momentum for the initiative includes converting a high-performing existing licensed Fractured Prune shop in Millville, Delaware, into a full franchise location. This location is well-suited to thrive under Fractured Prune franchising, modeled around the brand’s refreshed operations model, including smaller footprints and streamlined execution. Like with Millville, the brand has historically performed strongly in tourism-driven markets where guests seek memorable food experiences.
