Grown was born out of a deeply personal moment and from necessity. When Shannon and Ray’s son Walker was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a toddler, their lives changed overnight. Shannon quickly realized that no matter where they were—on the road during Ray’s NBA seasons, juggling life with five children, or simply searching for a quick, healthy meal, there were no fast, affordable options for organic, nutritious food.
“I was driving around with Walker in the backseat, managing blood sugars and reading every label, realizing there was nowhere to go for real food,” said Shannon Allen, Founder and CEO of Grown. “We needed something better for our family. What became abundantly clear is that everyone needs this. That is as true today as it was 10 years ago when we first started Grown.”
