In an exclusive interview with Mark Milburn of FranchisePressReleases.com, Chris Webb discusses the company’s No. 236 ranking on the 2026 Franchise Times 400, its international foundation, and the opportunities driving its U.S. expansion.
PORT ORANGE, Fla. // FranchisePressReleases.com // Oct. 23, 2026 — Heart to Home Meals is building its U.S. franchise network around a growing need: helping seniors maintain their independence through nutritious meals and personal service delivered directly to their homes.
The company ranked No. 236 on the 2026 Franchise Times 400, just two years after launching its U.S. franchise opportunity in 2024. While its American franchise system is relatively new, Heart to Home Meals benefits from decades of international experience through its parent company, apetito, which has served seniors since 1958.
With America’s senior population growing, healthcare organizations exploring new approaches to nutrition, and families seeking dependable support for aging loved ones, Heart to Home Meals sees an opportunity to expand its mission-driven business across the country.
In this exclusive interview with Mark Milburn of FranchisePressReleases.com, Chris Webb, president of Heart to Home Meals, discusses the company’s rapid recognition, the importance of senior nutrition, the advantages of its established international foundation, and the investments positioning the franchise system for continued growth.
From U.S. Launch to Franchise Times 400 Recognition
Mark Milburn: Heart to Home Meals debuted at No. 236 on the 2026 Franchise Times 400, just two years after launching its U.S. franchise opportunity in 2024. What do you believe has enabled the brand to achieve this milestone so quickly, and what does the recognition say about the opportunity ahead?
Chris Webb: Clearly, a large part of this comes from our global presence. We’ve been franchising for close to 20 years in Canada and more than 35 years in the UK. So, while the U.S. franchise opportunity is new, our model behind it isn’t.
That said, I truly believe we offer a unique franchise proposition. It is built on a genuine mission that allows local owners to make a real difference in their community, combined with a recession-proof business. Food is and always will be needed, and good nutrition is particularly important in our later years to help keep us happy and healthy.
The Growing Need for Senior Nutrition
Mark Milburn: America’s senior population is growing rapidly, and more families are looking for ways to help older adults remain independent in their own homes. How is this demographic shift influencing demand for Heart to Home Meals, and what role can the brand play in addressing the nutritional and practical challenges facing seniors and their families?
Chris Webb: Research shows that, on average, 11,200 Americans are turning 65 every day in 2026, and 93% of U.S. adults aged 65 and older live in their own home or apartment rather than in a care facility. So, demand for home- and community-based services is only going to keep growing.
Over the last few decades, life expectancy has increased. People are living longer, but not necessarily healthier. Nutritional interventions are becoming more popular and are widely viewed as a first course of action to help prevent and reverse chronic illness. At Heart to Home Meals, we offer one of the largest ranges of meals catering to a wide variety of dietary needs, so we are well placed to help address this need.
At the same time, many sons and daughters of aging parents are busy with lives of their own, often working hard to support both their parents and their children. Heart to Home Meals gives families peace of mind and a great deal of comfort, knowing that Mom or Dad is getting nutritious, great-quality and great-tasting meals, hand-delivered by a friendly local driver who has their best interests at heart.
That matters even more when the kids live on the other side of the country.
The Strength of the apetito Legacy
Mark Milburn: Heart to Home Meals benefits from the experience of parent company apetito, which has served seniors since 1958 and generates more than $1 billion in annual global sales. How does that established international foundation benefit the U.S. franchise system, and what advantages does it provide franchise partners that a newer independent meal delivery business might not have?
Chris Webb: Across eight countries, around 1.4 million meals made by apetito are eaten every day across the welfare sector. Here in the U.S., our franchisees benefit from that wealth of experience in producing nutritious, great-tasting meals.
One of the biggest benefits is that they are joining a highly successful, family-owned business that has been around for generations and is here for the long term. We are building a sustainable business for years to come, and we are fortunate to have that history behind us.
Many new franchise concepts simply do not have that kind of history or backing as Heart to Home Meals does.
Access to Meals Through Multiple Payment Channels
Mark Milburn: The brand serves private-pay customers and works with Medicaid and Medicare Advantage programs, including its expansion into North Carolina as an approved Medicaid state. How important are these relationships to the company’s mission and growth strategy, and what opportunities might broader access to meal benefits create for franchise owners?
Chris Webb: They are incredibly important to us. Our model is built on delivering great-tasting, nutritious meals with truly local customer service. We have seen firsthand how well this approach suits the different needs of each state, and even different regions within a state.
One of our franchisees in North Carolina might be serving rural counties where traditional meal programs have limited reach. In another state, we may be talking with a healthcare system about hospital discharge meal bundles to help reduce readmissions. Either way, our model is incredibly flexible enough for franchisees to deliver value where it’s most needed in their community.
The “Food is Medicine” movement is gaining momentum, and that creates more opportunities to make a real difference. A good recent example is the Medically Tailored Home-Delivered Meals Program Pilot Act, a bipartisan federal bill that would create a six-year Medicare pilot providing medically tailored meals to seniors and those with chronic, diet-related conditions after a hospital stay.
An Investment in Infrastructure to Support Expansion
Mark Milburn: Parent company apetito completed a more than €12 million expansion of its Ottawa production facility to supply the growing U.S. franchise system. How does this investment position Heart to Home Meals for continued growth, and how are you ensuring that food quality, dependable supply, and customer service remain consistent as the franchise network expands?
Chris Webb: The investment in Ottawa gives us a reliable supply of quality meals to support our growth in the U.S. for many years to come. Again, this is another benefit of being part of a highly successful business like apetito, which has consistently shown its willingness to invest. That’s how we keep quality, supply and service consistent as more franchisees come on board.
The expansion, along with new kitchen equipment, also gives us the chance to keep improving our food. It will also make it easier for us to launch new, innovative products in the U.S. to help support our franchisees and healthcare partners.
A Franchise Opportunity Built Around a Growing Need
Heart to Home Meals combines an established international operating foundation with a U.S. franchise opportunity focused on serving seniors and their families. Its approach brings together meal production, local delivery, community relationships and opportunities to work with healthcare and other organizations.
For prospective franchise owners, the opportunity centers on a growing demographic and an ongoing need for nutritious meals, dependable service and support that helps older adults remain independent in their homes.
As the company expands its U.S. network, its investment in production capacity and its experience across international markets provide the foundation for its next phase of development.
