Hot Head Burritos Announces Death of Founder and CEO Ray Wiley

May 27, 2026 // FranchisePR.com // DAYTON, Ohio — Ray Wiley, founder, president and CEO of Hot Head Burritos and a longtime restaurant operator who built the Dayton-born concept into a multi-state franchise brand, has died. He was 60.

Wiley founded Hot Head Burritos in 2007 after spending decades in the restaurant industry, including more than 30 years as a Subway franchisee and operator. What began as a single restaurant in Dayton, Ohio, grew to more than 85 locations across eight states today.

Hot Head Burritos offered customizable burritos, bowls and tacos, signature sauces ranging from Mild to Wild and a franchise system described as emphasizing operational simplicity and franchisee support.

Throughout his career, Wiley had an entrepreneurial spirit, practical leadership style and deep commitment to franchisees and restaurant operators. In 2015, he also co-founded Rapid Fired Pizza, helping grow the concept to 35 locations before its sale to an investment group in 2021.

Effective immediately, Kelly Gray, co-owner and longtime corporate vice president, will assume the role of president. Peter Wiley will serve the company as vice president.
