Kumon North America Donates Hundreds of Books To Dallas Women’s Shelter
August 01, 2024, RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Kumon Center owners in Dallas for the company’s annual Instructors Conference donated more than 200 children’s books to the Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support in Dallas. Genesis planned to add the books to children’s back-to-school backpacks.
The donated books donation in support of women and children at the shelter was designed to foster education and strengthen family bonds. A Genesis spokeswoman said thanks to the donation, books would be included in the back-to-school backpacks of school supplies for children served by the shelter.
“We are thrilled by the instructors’ enthusiasm for supporting women and children through Genesis,” said John Marsh, vice president of the office of the CEO of Kumon North America. “Kumon is a strong proponent of literacy in the communities we serve, and we are confident that this gift will help more children discover a love of books and reading.”
As part of its mission to promote literacy, Kumon has collected and donated more than 36,400 books throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico over the past two years with a goal of exceeding 50,000 books by the end of the year.
This fall, Kumon Centers will collect new and gently used books to donate to local charities that serve children and families. Community members are invited to participate by donating books for all ages to their local Kumon Center.
