Meet Baskin-Robbins' Newest Pint-Sized Hero, Lex
May 15, 2024 – At Baskin-Robbins, we’re passionate about happiness. That’s why we created the Baskin-Robbins Pint-Sized Heroes program to bring smiles to children who are receiving care at hospitals across the country and continue to inspire joy in their communities.
Through the generosity of our franchisees, Team Members, partners and guests, the Baskin-Robbins Joy in Childhood Foundation is able to provide grants in honor of our Pint-Sized Heroes so that they continue to make an impact on other kids facing challenges in their communities. This month, we’re recognizing a Pint-Sized Hero who inspires others to stay positive despite the challenges they may face. Keep reading to learn more about our new Pint-Sized Hero, Lex.
Lex was diagnosed with high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of 10. He went into remission after his first round of chemotherapy and completing 10 months of intense treatment, before moving to over 2 years of monthly maintenance treatment. The treatments were hard on his body and limited his ability to go to school and participate in his usual activities, but despite this set back, he claims he will live just like his blood type and “B positive.” Lex amazes everyone around him with his determination, optimism, and deep belief in the bigger plan for his life and is an important part of the community at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Lex created a social media campaign to raise money to purchase port shirts for inpatient children receiving care at the same hospital, which helped raise funds for kids fighting cancer and other life-threatening diseases. He has helped raise over $1million for local charities, has traveled to various cities sharing his story, continues to attend events in and around Atlanta to share his story and help Children’s raise money to bring awareness to pediatric cancer, and even created his own fundraising project called Cancer Cards which provide discounts to local retailers and restaurants and have helped bring in nearly $90,000 for Children’s. Most recently, Lex was nominated as an Honorary Construction Manager for the replacement hospital, Arthur M. Blank of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Baskin-Robbins is overjoyed to recognize Lex as a Pint-Sized Hero and to support him in his mission of making the world a better place. To pay it forward, the Baskin-Robbins Joy in Childhood Foundation is granting $31,000 in his name to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to use on child life programming. To show our gratitude to Lex, we’re treating him to a year of free ice cream, so he can celebrate every sweet moment with Baskin-Robbins!
