Smokey Mo’s BBQ Grows Central Texas Footprint with Third Location from Multi-Unit Franchisees
May 22, 2026 // FranchisePR.com // SCHERTZ, Texas – Smokey Mo’s BBQ is continuing its Central Texas expansion with a new restaurant opening May 25 in Schertz, marking the third location from longtime franchisees Kim and Roger Harris and further reinforcing the brand’s focus on growing with experienced operators. A grand opening celebration is also planned for June 13, featuring additional promotions and giveaways for guests.
The new restaurant builds on the Harris family’s nearly two-decade partnership with Smokey Mo’s. Since joining the brand in 2007, the couple has steadily expanded their footprint with established locations in New Braunfels and San Antonio. The Schertz restaurant is co-owned alongside Nathan and Ashlea Page, who have partnered with the Harrises on the group’s other two Smokey Mo’s locations since 2015.
“When we first joined Smokey Mo’s, it was because the brand believed in the same things we did: great food, treating guests the right way, and building real relationships in the community,” said Kim Harris. “Nearly 20 years later, those values are still at the core of the business. Opening in Schertz feels like the right next step for us because it’s a community we know well and are proud to serve.”

The Schertz restaurant is in proximity to the operators who live in Cibolo and participate in the Schertz-Cibolo Chamber of Commerce. Smokey Mo’s notes its strategy of working with experienced operators in Texas markets.
Smokey Mo’s has grown over more than 25 years and operates in Texas markets with locally connected operators.
“Kim and Roger have been an important part of Smokey Mo’s for nearly two decades, and seeing them continue to grow with the brand is incredibly meaningful,” said Craig Haley, CEO of Smokey Mo’s BBQ. “They’ve built their restaurants the right way, earned trust in their communities, and represent exactly the kind of operators we’re proud to grow with.”
The Schertz location will offer slow-smoked meats such as brisket, turkey, pulled pork, sausage, and chicken, served by the plate, sandwich, or taco, along with homestyle sides, desserts, and a full breakfast menu.
In addition to its everyday offerings, Smokey Mo’s BBQ offers catering services for events of all sizes, from office lunches to community gatherings.
The brand is evolving its restaurant experience with updated design elements and operational improvements aimed at guest convenience and franchisee performance. With flexible buildouts and a focus on leadership, Smokey Mo’s notes possibilities for growth in Schertz and beyond.
