Wienerschnitzel Continues Walmart Expansion with New Alamogordo, New Mexico Restaurant
National Hot Dog Brand Brings Iconic Chili Dogs and Convenience-Driven Dining to Otero County Walmart Shoppers
January 28, 2026 // FranchisePR.com // ALAMOGORDO, N.M.– Wienerschnitzel, known for selling great American food, is expanding its presence inside Walmart Supercenters with the opening of its newest restaurant in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Located inside the Alamogordo Walmart Supercenter at 233 S New York Ave, Alamogordo, NM, the restaurant marks Wienerschnitzel’s latest location within the retail giant’s stores nationwide and is slated to open on January 30, 2026.
The Alamogordo restaurant will be operated by Evan Carbonell, a multi-unit Wienerschnitzel franchisee with a growing portfolio across the Southwest. Carbonell currently owns and operates four Wienerschnitzel locations in El Paso, Texas, and plans to open four additional units in the Fort Worth area under his Met1Franks group.
Following successful launches in Tempe, Arizona, the Walmart platform continues to serve as a strategic channel for introducing the brand to new guests and franchise partners. Additional Walmart locations are planned across key markets, including Bakersfield, California, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Reno, Nevada, and Puyallup, Washington.
Each Wienerschnitzel restaurant inside Walmart offers the brand’s full menu, including fan-favorite items such as the Chili Cheese Dog, Junkyard Dog, Chili Cheese Fries, Jalapeño Peppers, and Tastee Freez® soft-serve desserts. The Alamogordo location is designed to serve shoppers, families, and travelers seeking a fast, satisfying meal during their retail visits.
“As we continue to test and expand this format, Walmart has proven to be a strong platform for introducing Wienerschnitzel to new communities and meeting guests where they already shop,” said Doug Koegeboehn, Chief Marketing Officer for Wienerschnitzel. “The Alamogordo opening reflects the growing demand for convenient, high-quality quick-service options in retail environments and reinforces the scalability of this model as part of our long-term growth strategy.”
Wienerschnitzel continues to expand in non-traditional venues, including landing a recent high-profile military base. Additional pursuit is underway in airports, theme parks, food courts, travel plazas and convenience stores, as part of its strategy to meet guests in high-visibility, high-traffic locations. These sites expand access to the brand’s beloved menu while underscoring the flexibility and scalability of its business model.
The Alamogordo opening builds on Wienerschnitzel’s recent retail expansion, with its Original Corn Dogs now available in 500-plus grocery stores, including Save Mart, FoodMaxx, Lucky, Albertsons and Vons across California and Nevada.
Wienerschnitzel currently operates 340 franchised locations across 13 states, with more than 50 additional units in development nationwide. As the brand expands, it continues to seek experienced multi-unit restaurant operators and aspiring entrepreneurs to be a part of its franchise family.
