Ziggi’s Coffee Adds QSR Industry Veterans to Support Disciplined Growth
Clutch Coffee Bar founder Darren Spicer and former Duck Donuts CEO Betsy Hamm join Ziggi’s Coffee in strategic roles
April 02, 2026 // FranchisePR.com // DENVER, Colo. — Ziggi’s Coffee is entering its next phase of growth, bringing on QSR industry veterans Darren Spicer and Betsy Hamm to support the brand’s continued expansion.
As the company celebrates 10 years of franchising in 2026, Ziggi’s is building on more than 20 years as a brand, focusing on scaling with intention by investing in the systems, structure and leadership needed to support long-term, sustainable growth across its expanding footprint. The move reflects a deliberate effort to learn from experienced operators who have successfully navigated high-growth environments.
Spicer, founder and former CEO of Clutch Coffee Bar, brings recent, hands-on experience scaling a drive-thru coffee concept in today’s competitive beverage landscape. He grew the brand from a single location to more than a dozen units before its acquisition by Dutch Bros and now advises emerging and growth-stage concepts through his firm, 110 Ventures. At Ziggi’s Coffee, he will serve as a consultant, supporting store-level performance, training and local marketing initiatives, while also providing insight on new store development and market-level growth.
“This is an exciting time to join Ziggi’s,” said Spicer. “The brand has built a strong foundation and clear identity, and there’s a lot of opportunity ahead. I’m looking forward to supporting the team as they continue to grow and expand the brand.”
Hamm, former CEO of Duck Donuts, will serve as Fractional Chief Operating Officer, bringing a well-rounded background spanning marketing, operations and franchise leadership. She joined Duck Donuts in 2016 and advanced from marketing to chief operating officer before being named CEO, helping guide the company through a period of significant expansion from approximately 20 locations to nearly 200 across domestic and international markets. In her role with Ziggi’s Coffee, she will focus on strengthening operational alignment, supporting franchisee success and enhancing the systems and structure needed to scale effectively.
“I was drawn to Ziggi’s because it’s a founder-led brand with significant growth potential and a leadership team committed to building the business the right way,” said Hamm. “I’m excited to support the team as they continue to build the systems and consistency needed to scale successfully.”
Together, Spicer and Hamm bring complementary perspectives across founder-led growth and franchise system scale, giving Ziggi’s access to both modern coffee concept experience and proven operational discipline as it continues to expand.
Spicer and Hamm will work closely with Ziggi’s leadership team to provide strategic insight and operational guidance as the company continues to invest in its systems, training and overall brand infrastructure.
“As we mark 10 years of franchising, it’s important to recognize that Ziggi’s has been building this brand for more than 20 years,” said Brandon Knudsen, co-founder and CEO of Ziggi’s Coffee. “That foundation has given us a clear understanding of what works – and where we need to grow. Bringing in leaders like Darren and Betsy is about strengthening that foundation, learning from proven operators and making sure we’re building a system that supports our franchisees for the long term.”
This partnership reflects Ziggi’s commitment to growing with intention, ensuring its systems, people and culture evolve alongside its expanding footprint.
